One of the top priorities of House Republicans this year is cutting red tape in order to help promote a healthy economy that benefits all Americans. Here is another way we’re delivering on that priority.

Dear Friend,

New federal regulations must be carefully vetted to make sure they don’t hurt jobs and job creators. This is especially the case for any major regulations that would have a significant economic impact.

That is why I was pleased to support the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act when it passed the House last month.

The REINS Act requires Congress to approve any new major regulations proposed by unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats. This way, the people’s representatives in Congress can prevent federal agencies from implementing harmful and expensive new regulations that hurt economic growth and cost people jobs.

While some regulations are needed, the House will continue to take steps to ensure that the burdensome federal regulatory system is accountable to the people it serves. I will keep you informed as we do.

Sincerely,

Kay Granger
Member of Congress
