WASHINGTON – Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) released the following statement after the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that Texas-12 will receive nearly $300 million in grants for commercial and general aviation airports. These funds come directly from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Airport Grant Program.

“Airports in our district have been significantly impacted by the spread and magnitude of the coronavirus. These grants will provide unprecedented and immediate relief to Texas families, workers, and businesses. With one of the largest airports in our backyard, this funding will support continuing operations and replace lost revenue resulting from the sharp decline in passenger traffic and other airport business that plays a vital role in the TX-12 economy,” said Granger.

“Our transportation systems are critical in keeping us connected and in jumpstarting our economy, particularly in times of crisis. As the top Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, I will continue to work with President Trump, Governor Abbott, and local leaders to keep Texas’ needs at the forefront of the national discussion.”
