By now, I’m sure many of you have heard about the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups – flagging their applications for tax-exempt status and subjecting these groups to excessive and overly burdensome scrutiny.  This is an unacceptable and frankly a frightening practice that puts free speech in jeopardy.

My heart is broken over the terrible tragedy that occurred in Oklahoma yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, the first responders and the community that have been impacted. We mourn with them and with a heavy heart, I send my deepest condolences.

Last weekend, I had the privilege of presenting First Lieutenant James C. Jones, a veteran of World War II, with the Bronze Star Medal on his 91st birthday. Mr. Jones had commanded his unit during the Liberation of Paris and then the march to the German border. He is an American hero.
