We are all familiar with identity theft when it comes to our credit cards and bank accounts, but another type of ID theft is on the rise. Over the last two fiscal years, the federal government has sentenced 661 individuals for ID theft tax refund fraud.
Congresswoman Kay Granger (TX-12) announced today that the Fort Worth Fire Department is the recipient of a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) federal grant.
The Fort Worth Fire Department will receive $3,389,040.00. The grant can be used to increase or maintain the number of trained “front line” firefighters available in local communities.
The city received a $3.38 million federal grant Thursday that will be used to help fill vacant positions left open in the Fort Worth Fire Department during budget cutbacks last year.
The department lost 24 positions through attrition in the 2014 budget, said Richard Harrison, public information officer for the department.
