Congresswoman Granger Announces $5.5 Million Grant for Fort Worth Alliance Airport
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas), today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded an Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant to Fort Worth Alliance Airport. The award, which is for $5.5 million, will go to support a taxiway extension project needed after Amazon announced that it will open a regional air hub at the airport. The taxiway extension will provide Alliance the needed infrastructure to handle additional air traffic.
“Today’s announcement is another example of how Fort Worth Alliance Airport continues to demonstrate the success of one of this country’s extraordinary public/private partnerships,” said Congresswoman Kay Granger. “This significant investment will support Amazon’s new facility that will employ close to 1,000 people, further contributing to the tremendous economic development in North Texas.”
“We’re incredibly excited about receiving the FAA Discretionary Grant for construction of the extension of Taxiway Papa at Fort Worth Alliance Airport,” said Tom Harris, President, Alliance Air/Aviation Services. “Our partnership between the FAA, the City, and Hillwood Alliance continues to be very strong and allows us to continue to grow the client base at the airport, as this taxiway being developed will serve Amazon’s first air cargo hub operation in the United States opening in October of this year.”
