WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX) – top Republican on the House Appropriations Committee – announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) awarded a $298,834 grant to the Tarrant County College District under the Office on Violence Against Women’s Grants to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program (Campus Program).
“Unfortunately, women – especially on college campuses – remain the subject of harassment and assault. This grant comes at no better time as our nation observes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. By strengthening the partnership between campuses, local law enforcement, and victim advocacy organizations, higher education institutions can better prevent and respond to crimes such as sexual assault and domestic violence.
“As a mother, grandmother, and longtime advocate for women, I am proud that our region is leading the charge in the effort to reduce violence against women.”
