Economic growth isn’t just an end in itself. Strong economic growth provides hard working people the opportunity to succeed.

Dear Friend,

Today, I would like to address the Jobs and Economic Growth pillar of the Republican agenda. House Republicans will continue to pursue policies that encourage free enterprise because these policies are proven to support economic growth and create jobs. We will propose legislation to harness the abundant energy resources of our nation, roll back burdensome regulations and fix our tax code.

Our economy is still far from reaching its full potential and our nation’s slow recovery from the 2008 recession continues to impact many people. Our economic policies should make it easier for people to invest, produce and manufacture in America. Recently, we took an important first step by lifting the 40-year-old crude oil export ban. Ending the ban will encourage economic growth in Texas and across our nation. However, there’s still much more to be done.

Far too often, federal agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency issue unnecessary regulations that cripple businesses across this country. These burdensome regulations stifle some of Americans’ greatest traits - innovation and ingenuity - and harm our economy. Overregulation from Washington shouldn’t be the reason hard-working people cannot support their families.

In addition, our outdated tax code is unfair, overly complex and prevents our nation from reaching its full economic potential. We need a simpler, fairer tax code for the 21st Century that will benefit everyone and help families and small businesses thrive. You can be confident that we will continue to make progress on issues that help those working to make a better life for themselves and their families.

Sincerely,

Kay Granger
Member of Congress
