Coronavirus Update: May 5, 2020

Statistics are current as May 5, 9:00am CT  

• In Texas, 407,398 people have been tested, resulting in 32,332 cases and 884 deaths, as reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services. An estimated 1,533 patients are in Texas hospitals, and 16,090 coronavirus patients in Texas have successfully recovered.
  • Tarrant County has at least 2,584 confirmed cases; Parker County has 39 confirmed cases; and Wise County has 26.
• In the United States, more than 1 million cases of coronavirus have now been diagnosed. There are at least 1,152,372 cases and 67,456 deaths, as reported by the CDC.

• TOMORROW, the Blue Angels will soar over Fort Worth in a salute to our healthcare workers. Mark your calendars! Tomorrow, May 6th, at 11:00 AM, the Navy’s Blue Angels will honor our frontline responders and essential workers with a flyover of Dallas-Fort Worth. The flyover will last roughly 35 minutes, and the flight route is available on my social media here. I am proud to partner with the Navy to bring this display of national unity to Texas 12 as a tribute of support for those keeping our communities safe. Read more in my press release here.  
  • Enjoy the show—but watch from home if you are able, so that we can continue to stop the spread of the coronavirus. If you choose to venture out, remember to maintain proper social distancing and do not gather in large groups. 

• Options for testing in Texas 12 continue to grow. Today, Texas 12 residents gain a new testing location for the coronavirus in southeast Fort Worth. Appointments are scheduled by Tarrant County and executed by UNT-Health Science Center.
  • If you are interested in being tested, Tarrant County Public Health is using a new online screening tool to help you determine if you meet CDC-determined criteria to be tested. Those who do qualify for testing can schedule their appointment through the website.
  • A list of facilities in the Fort Worth area offering testing for the coronavirus can be found on the city website and on the website for the Texas Department of State Health Services.
