WASHINGTON –Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), Republican Leader of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after voting against the so-called “infrastructure” bill:
“Today’s vote was not about rebuilding our Nation’s infrastructure but rather about spending trillions of dollars on the latest liberal wish list,” said Congresswoman Kay Granger. “Less than 25% of the new spending in this so-called ‘infrastructure’ bill goes to traditional infrastructure like roads and bridges, and only a fraction of the bill’s $1.2 trillion total cost is paid for. According to the independent, non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the bill would add $256 billion to our growing national debt. The fact that this bill is only being voted on alongside the reconciliation bill proves that they are two sides of the same partisan, tax-and-spend coin.
“Instead of working together on a targeted infrastructure proposal focused on our Nation’s true needs, Speaker Pelosi chose to pave the way for her nearly $2 trillion socialist plan full of crushing taxes and radical spending.”
