- Congresswoman Kay Granger has announced the winners of the 2003 Congressional Arts Competition, an annual high school art competition coordinated by Members of Congress and completely funded through the support of community businesses and individuals. This year’s competition featured 144 entrants from twelve different schools in the 12th District of Texas.

"I look forward each spring to discovering and celebrating talented young high school artists and their work through the Congressional Arts Competition," said Representative Granger. "This contest is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in Texas and across the nation."
The winners of the 2003 Congressional Arts Competition for the 12th District of Texas are:
First Place: Megan McBride of the Trinity Valley School. McBride’s artwork will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel in the U.S. Capitol as part of a national exhibition. She and a parent will be flown to Washington, D.C., in June to represent the 12th Congressional District of Texas for the exhibition opening.
Second Place: Paul Adams of the Trinity Valley School. Adams’ artwork will hang for one year in Congresswoman Granger's Washington, D.C., office.
Third Place: Rachel Sanders, who is home schooled. Sanders’ artwork will hang for one year in Congresswoman Granger's Fort Worth office.
"Congresswoman’s Choice" Award: Collin Veitenheimer of Weatherford High School. This is the first year Granger has included this category.
In addition to being awarded their competition ribbons, the top three winners were presented with U.S. Savings Bonds from Wells Fargo Bank and certificates of Congressional recognition at a student reception on Saturday. Twenty-five students also received Honorable Mention ribbons.
