Dear Friend,

One of the top priorities for House Republicans is reducing red tape for businesses to help promote economic growth.  Earlier this week I asked for your opinion on our efforts to rein in burdensome federal regulations.  Thousands of you responded, and an overwhelming 67 percent of you expressed support for restraining federal regulations.  I could not agree with you more.  Three to four thousand new regulations are implemented each year by government agencies.  Some of these regulations can each cost businesses more than $100 million each year.  That’s money that would be better spent creating jobs.

You will be pleased to know that this week, the House passed the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act.  The REINS Act requires any major regulations to be approved by Congress and the President.  This will stop unelected bureaucrats at federal agencies from imposing costly and burdensome regulations on businesses of all sizes, stifling growth and costing jobs.

This is just one more example of the House prioritizing job creation to get our economy and employment back on track.  As the House continues this effort, I will keep in touch.

Sincerely,
