Advocating on behalf of constituents is one of the most important roles of a Congressional office. This week I want to share some of what my district office does to help constituents in their dealings with the federal government.

Dear Friend,

Federal agencies affect all of us on a daily basis. While we may have a satisfactory experience with the Social Security Administration, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Department of Veterans Affairs or other agencies, sometimes we have difficulty getting what we need accomplished.

When constituents are having trouble navigating the bureaucratic maze or getting an answer they need, my office is here to help.

A recent example of the work we do involves a constituent’s son who joined the Navy and suffered a serious medical emergency during training. Due to paperwork delays and technicalities, her son was unable to get the special treatment the military doctors recommended for his recovery. When my office was contacted about this case, we were able to get the approval he needed and he has since moved to that special treatment center – where he is showing signs of improvement which give his parents hope.

In another case, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed a rule that would affect patients with prosthetic devices. After hearing from constituents who would be negatively impacted, my office contacted the agency about the proposed rule. Fortunately, the agency decided against implementing it and patients can still get the prosthetic devices they depend on.

Should you ever need assistance in dealing with federal agencies, please call my Fort Worth office at 817-338-0909. It is an honor to advocate on your behalf.

Sincerely,

Kay Granger
Member of Congress
