I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of my travels throughout our community over the recent district work period.
Dear Friend,
Our community is unique because while it is vibrant and growing, Fort Worth still has its “small town” feel. The reason for this is because of our spirit of volunteerism. When there is a need, people in our community step up to take care of one another.
Local employees at U.P.S. do this by stepping up to be positive role models for children and help them shape a better future. I was pleased to take part in an event celebrating the U.P.S. Foundation’s support for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, and was honored to say a few words highlighting this partnership that makes our community stronger.
Although right outside of our 12th District, I also toured the Gatehouse, a new facility that will serve our community by providing protection to the most vulnerable among us. The Gatehouse is a community for women and children experiencing crisis and offers a variety of services to provide a safe place to escape abuse. This facility, funded entirely through private donations, ensures that our vibrant and growing community continues to look out for those in need.
In addition, I visited the Fort Worth Independent School District’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy to speak with junior and senior students and answer their questions. This wonderful school, which received the prestigious recognition of being named a National Blue Ribbon School, provides young women a rigorous curriculum to prepare them for college and success in life. We are fortunate to have such impressive young leaders in our community.
Sincerely,
