WASHINGTON- Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX), the Republican Leader of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement today after the House passed a partisan coronavirus bill introduced by Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats.

"We are facing an unprecedented crisis, and up until now, the Congress has worked together to provide historic levels of relief to help Americans fight the coronavirus. So I am very disappointed to see Speaker Pelosi playing politics during this pandemic. Crafted in secret without any input from Republicans, this bill is premature and loaded with liberal policies. The bill adds new benefits that will discourage communities from re-opening and people returning to work, gives a $25 billion windfall to the Postal Service without requiring any reforms, and spends billions of dollars to implement Democrats’ ideas to fundamentally change elections in this country. Instead of wasting time on legislation that has no chance of becoming law, Speaker Pelosi should have worked with us on a bipartisan bill that will truly help the American people."
