WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX), top Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement after the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced it will invest $25 million in improvements for freight and commuter rail between Fort Worth and Dallas. The funding is being awarded to the North Central Texas Council of Governments through the Department of Transportation’s Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants program.

“The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex has enjoyed some of the fastest development in the country, and the transportation infrastructure connecting Fort Worth and Dallas has played a key role in facilitating further growth and keeping our people, goods, and services connected.

“I’m so pleased to see that the Department of Transportation will be awarding $25 million to improve commuter and freight rail capacity between Fort Worth and Dallas, including new construction to create two-way railroad tracks and implementation of Clearpath Technology to monitor and ensure smooth commuter and freight traffic. As the former Mayor of Fort Worth, I know firsthand how important transportation infrastructure is to our region’s economy, and I have no doubt that DOT’s new investments will support the continued economic expansion of Texas 12 and the wider Fort Worth area."
