WASHINGTON – Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement after the Army announced they are cancelling the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) program.
“I am disappointed in the Army’s decision to cancel the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA). This represents the Army’s fourth failed attempt to field a new attack/reconnaissance aircraft. Billions of dollars and decades of development have been invested in this capability, and it is unacceptable that the Army will once again fail to field this badly needed aircraft. I continue to support Army modernization to ensure that our soldiers are provided with the most technically advanced and lethal equipment. I expect the Army to prioritize investment into aviation capabilities including continued support for fielding of the Future Long Range Attack Aircraft (FLRAA).”
