The grant will fund the fourth of five phases to buy property around the southern edge of Meacham, which is adversely affected by noise from ascending and descending airplanes, and to relocate the homeowners or business owners. When the fifth phase is completed in about a year and half, the City of Fort Worth will have purchased about 50 acres of property that will buffer airport operations from residents and businesses. The cost of the project will be an estimated $9 million, with 95 percent of the money coming from the federal government and 5 percent from the city. Meacham is Fort Worth’s oldest airport.
