WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX), top Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)'s Administration for Children and Families awarded Texas $48,102,282 in Community Services Block Grant funds, which provide support to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty in vulnerable communities. These funds come directly from the ‘Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act’, the third coronavirus relief package that President Trump signed into law in late March.

“As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread in our communities, state and local community service organizations face unprecedented pressure in their ability to meet the escalating needs of low-income and at-need families. The Administration for Children and Families’ Community Services Block Grant funding will provide crucial support to Texas state services and their local partners on the ground as they address challenges related to poverty reduction, employment, and health and nutrition.
