WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Kay Granger, top Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, today issued the following statement naming Steve Ruhlen as her new Chief of Staff.

"I am so pleased to welcome back Steve Ruhlen as my new Chief of Staff. Steve previously served as Chief of Staff for me in 2015 and has more than 30 years of leadership experience in Congress, the White House, and political campaigns. Steve possesses the institutional knowledge and policy acumen required to oversee my office and legislative priorities.

"Steve has deep Texas roots being from San Antonio and a graduate of the University of Texas. I know Steve to be a proven leader from his previous service to not only me but as Chief of Staff to former Texas Reps. Pete Olson and Henry Bonilla. As Congress is faced with critical work ahead amid these unprecedented times, I look forward to having Steve on my team, ready to help implement policies that impact the lives of everyone in Texas District 12.

BACKGROUND:

Steve Ruhlen rejoins the office of Congresswoman Granger from the government affairs firm Total Spectrum where he was a partner. From 2001-2003, Steve served in the White House as deputy assistant for legislative affairs to Vice President Dick Cheney. He spent most of his congressional career in the Texas delegation,

Steve was raised in an Army family and hails from San Antonio, TX, A graduate of the University of Texas, he and his family reside in Alexandria, VA.
