WASHINGTON – Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), Republican Leader of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after voting against legislation that would amend the Senate’s procedural rules to enable it to pass a bill raising the debt ceiling more easily:
“As long as Democrats are trying to enact historic spending increases with no fiscal reforms, Republicans should not help them raise the debt ceiling,” said Congresswoman Kay Granger. “For months, Democrats have had a path to raise the debt limit by themselves, using the reconciliation process they are so willing to employ when it comes to advancing their socialist agenda. This bill merely enables the Democrats to more easily drive our country into debt and I am proud to oppose it.”
