WASHINGTON - Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), Republican Leader of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement on the importance of enacting the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021, which authorizes funding for the Department of Defense.
“Failing to enact the NDAA this year would have dire consequences for our national defense, deprive us of important tools to counter China and Russia, and harm our troops. Thousands of our military members and their families would lose hazardous duty pay amid the holidays, as well as a much-deserved pay raise and resources to protect their health and well-being.
“This NDAA also supports many jobs and critical programs important to the robust North Texas defense industry. It authorizes increased investment in the Army’s Future Vertical Lift program and increased production of Lockheed Martin F-35s and Bell V-22 Ospreys. Additionally, the measure authorizes critical infrastructure upgrades and military construction for Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth to ensure it remains the nation’s premier military installation.
“This NDAA ensures that our troops have a budget that matches their bravery and sacrifice, and it charts a path to sustain America’s strong military advantage over our enemies, all while supporting North Texas’ industrial economy.
“Congress must uphold its highest Constitutional duty—providing for America’s common defense—and ensure the NDAA becomes law.”
